HOUse of Lords becomes the supreme court
In many of the textbooks you will see the highest court in the land referred to as 'The House of Lords'. Some of you may know that The House of Lords still exists and is one of the two HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT - the other house is the House of Commons where MPs, who are elected in general elections sit. The Houses of Parliament and the monarch together make laws called STATUTES or ACTS OF PARLIAMENT.
Judicial Precedent is NOT law made by Parliament it is law made by JUDGES in cases. The mini documentary below discusses the change from the old Judicial Committee of the House of Lords, which used to be the highest court in the UK, to the Supreme Court. Here's Stacey Dooley!
